Cristiano Ronaldo was the star of show as Manchester United came from behind to beat Arsenal 3-2 at home in the league. The Portuguese attacker scored a brace in the second half to lead Manchester United to an important win over the Gunners and alsoboost his hopes of winning the FIFA Ballon d'Or Award for this year.
Ronaldo had finished on the podium when the FIFA Ballond'Or Award for 2020 was handed out. The Manchester United talisman finished in second place behind 2020 FIFA Ballon d'Orrecipient Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich, while new Paris Saint Germain (PSG) superstar Lionel Messi finished in third spot.
Manchester United attacker Ronaldo has been amongst the goals since he returned to the club in the summer. The 36-year-old re-signed for the Red Devils in the summer on the back of his three-year spell at Juventus. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner also spent nine years at Real Madridwhom he joined from Manchester United at the end of his first spell at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo has scored a lot of goals since he began his second spell at the Theatre of Dreams. His two goals against Arsenal took his tally to 12 goals in all competitions. The Portuguese player started the scoring in the second half after the opening goal from Arsenal star Emile Smith-Rowe had been cancelled out by Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes. Ronaldo scored the first of his brace on 52 minutes off the assist from Marcus Rashford before he completed his brace twenty minutes from time via a spot kick after Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard was penalised for a foul on Fred. Odegaard had pulled the Gunners level for 2-2 two minutes after the first Ronaldo goal.
Arsenal didn't have a response for the second Ronaldo goal as Manchester United held on for a 3-2 win.
