Neymar has Edinson Cavani, Kylian Mbappe backing to win FIFA Ballon d'Or

Uruguay international Edinson Cavani has revealed that he has put his differences aside with teammate Neymar, and is looking forward to helping the Brazilian win the Ballon d'Or title.

The pair were involved in an on-field spat over a penalty and free-kick which led to speculation that Cavani could leave Parc des Princes in January.

However, the two have since patched up with Cavani hoping to help Neymar secure football's most prestigious individual honour, he told Ovacion: "I spoke with him and told him what I thought, but they're things that stay in the dressing room. I'm not going to tell you what we said to each other. Individual honours will come because the team does well, that means everyone is working well. And if we have the best in the world, that's great for me. I have said several times I want him to have the Ballon d'Or because if that happens it means he'll have scored lots of goals and he'll have helped us win things."

Neymar has come third and fifth in the previous two years for the Ballon d'Or, and this urged him to move out of the shadow of former teammate and five-time winner Lionel Messi, who was receiving the plaudits for Barcelona's success. At Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar has made a bright start with six goals and five assists in just six Ligue 1 appearances, while his form has also helped them Les Parisiens to a 100 percent start in the Champions League.

Apart from Cavani, summer signing Kylian Mbappe also heaped praise on the Brazil international, and he is hoping that Neymar gets the chance to win the Ballon d'Or whilst helping the side to lift the Champions League crown. However, Mbappe also harbours to bag the individual accolade someday having made excellent progress since his breakthrough season with AS Monaco last term.
