Cristiano Ronaldo improvedhishopes of winning the FIFA Ballon d'Or Award following his strike in the 2-1 away win over West Ham United. The Portuguese national team star was on target for Manchester United as they secured an impressive victory over the Hammers in the Premier League last weekend.

New Manchester United signing Ronaldo was able to continue his good form in front of goal upon his return to Old Trafford. Since he made his return to the Theatre of Dreams, Ronaldo has scored four goals in three games in all competitions. Manchester United sealed his return last month after several years away from the club. Manchester United paid an initial fee of £12.9m for Ronaldo and they could add £6.9m to that fee in add-ons. The Red Devils signed the 36-year-old attacker from Italian Serie A giants Juventus.

Ronaldo hit a brace on his second Manchester United debut at the expense of Newcastle United. His two goals propelled the Red Devils to a convincing 4-1 win over the Magpies at home in a Premier League game. It was his first game for the Red Devils for the first time since the 2009 Champions League final in Rome.
Portuguese national team skipper Ronaldo made it three goals in two games with his goal in the 2-1 loss to Swiss champions Young Boys in the opening game of the Champions League group stage this season. Ronaldo scored the opener in the first half before things fell apart for his team after right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sent off.
Manchester United spent almost an hour of the Young Boys game with ten men and the numerical disadvantage led to two goals being conceded in the second half for a 2-1 win in favour of the Swiss team.
Ronaldo made it four goals in three games with his goal in the slim win over the Hammers thereby boosting his FIFA Ballon d'Or Award hopes. He was in second position behind Bayern Munich hitman Robert Lewandowski at the last edition of the award two years ago.
