Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino feels Dele Alli has the chance to win Ballon d'Or title as he progresses further in his professional career. The England international has made himself as the go-to man in the Spurs attack ever since his debut during the 2015/16 season.
In a report covered by The Telegraph, Pochettino insists that the youngster has the capacity to secure the accolade with Spurs providing him with the best tools to become one of the world's best, he said, "Why not? It is true that he is now in another moment of his career completely different, but Dele has potential. He has that capacity and that energy, that aura that does not leave you indifferent. Hopefully, let's hope. He is still young and still has to improve and learn many things. We are trying to provide him with the best tools."
Alli has made a good start to the season with three goals in all competitions, and he is nowadays regarded as one of the first names on Pochettino's team sheet. The attacker has also amassed 22 caps with the England national side, and he is expected to play a vital role for the Three Lions during next summer's World Cup finals in Russia.
Meanwhile, the former MK Dons graduate is also said to be eyeing a fresh contract at the north London giants owing to his standout performances over the past year. Alli is currently on a £50,000-a-week package, and he could reportedly demand more than thrice of his current salary, as per The Sun.
Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris are Spurs' highest earners on £100,000-a-week, and it will be interesting to see whether chairman Daniel Levy loosens his strict wage policy in order to commit Alli to a new long-term deal. Real Madrid have already been touted as potential candidates to pursue Alli in the future, and a strong performance in Russia next year will only increase his attention among Europe's elite.
