Carlos Tevez has forced himself back into the national team

After being forced into exile from the Argentina national team squad over the last couple of years, Carlos Tevez has forced himself back into the national team reckoning after a stellar campaign with Juventus.

He has been a major reason behind the club reaching the Champions League final. The former Manchester City striker has scored 28 goals in all competitions. He is the single major goal threat for the Italian outfit. For this reason, former Juventus coach Fabio Capello reckons that Tevez should be one of the contenders for the 2015 FIFA Ballon d’Or award.

The title has been won by Cristiano Ronaldo for the last two seasons, while Lionel Messi has been the previous recipient. Both these players have shared the title ever since it was introduced into the new format a couple of years ago. Capello reckons that it will be extremely difficult for Tevez to break the stranglehold of Messi and Ronaldo, but he says that finishing in the shortlist will be a great recognition for the Argentine striker. Tevez has undergone a lot of issues on and off the field in the last few years, but he appears to be fully focused on his career at the moment. Juventus have already won the Italian Serie A for the fourth consecutive season.

"It will depend on Juventus' Champions League campaign. But Tevez is certainly one of those few players that can really make a difference on the pitch and there were weaker candidates for the Ballon d'Or last season than him.Messi, however, is Messi. He has a unique genius. He's like Maradona and Pele.At this point, anything is possible. And Juve have great players in terms of quality. But to say Juve got the softest draw is wrong. Maybe it's because of my past that I have a weakness for Madrid,” said Capello.
